What does it take to live an authentic life?
From the time we are children, we’re taught that there are very specific things we need to do to be happy and successful (go to college, get married, have babies, etc.) I decided early on NOT to follow that path.
If you’re questioning the 9-5 life, it’s time to start asking yourself what your natural gifts and talents are.
Today, I’m sharing 5 tips for cultivating a life you love. This isn’t your average fluffy BS advice.
We’re talkin’ real truth and practical steps you can take to turn your life around! Tune in.
Tip 01: Decide what kind of life you want to live.
We all have the same 24-hours in a day as Beyoncé, but what matters is what we decide to focus on.
A fun way to do this is with a time-blocking exercise where you map out what your ideal day would look like. For each hour, imagine what you would do if you were living authentically. This will help you to visualize how to incorporate the most important things into your life.
Tip 02: Stay true to your authentic integrity
After you’ve completed the time-blocking exercise in the first tip, you’ll be able to clearly see when you are taking an action or making a choice that doesn’t feel aligned. Let go of anything that comes from a place of people-pleasing or outside influence.
If you don’t really love running, why are you still showing up to your running club? Is there something that you could do that feels more aligned with the life you want to love?

Tip 03: Be okay with disappointing others
If you have friends and family members who are used to you showing up in a certain way, they might feel resistant to the more aligned, authentic you.
This is especially true for people-pleasers who have been stifling their voice for too long.
Remember: You are not put on this earth to please other people.
Tip 04: “7 or Above” rule
Think of everything you do on a scale from 1-10. A 1 means there’s absolutely no way you want to do it and a 10 is something that makes you feel super excited and energized. Then don’t do anything that you rate below a 7.
Chris and I came up for the idea of “7 or Above” one Easter as we were getting ready to go to a family event. My body was telling me that what I needed was to stay home and rest, but I felt obligated to show up for my family. Chris asked me “What kind of life are we living if we’re living for other people?”
The 7 or above rule does not mean that we shouldn’t show up for the people we love, it’s all about making sure that we’re filling our own cup first. #guiltfree

Tip 05: Surround yourself with greatness
We’ve all heard the saying that you are a culmination of the 5 people you surround yourself with, so it’s important to surround yourself with great people!
Ask yourself: Do the people around you challenge you to be your best self? Are they committed to living an elevated life?
