“The more relaxed you are, the better you are at everything.” – Bill Murray
When was the last time that you truly let yourself rest?
Rest is almost a dreaded word in our culture, but is actually much needed in the balance of life and being able to recharge. When you’re going after big goals, you have to use a lot of energy, and so in order to continue and sustain that momentum, rest must be a part of the equation.
In this episode of The Elevated Life podcast, we’re sharing “6 Types of Rest” so you can actually recharge instead of just vegging out on the couch. If you are trying to find balance in your life this summer, then this episode is for you!

✨ How to build a self-care routine and ritual

6 Types of Rest
Physical Rest
We all know the importance of a good night’s sleep. But physical rest goes beyond clocking in those hours of slumber. It’s about tuning into your body’s needs and honoring them. Whether it’s indulging in a pampering self-care session, taking long walks in nature, or simply allowing yourself a nap when fatigue hits, physical rest is essential for rejuvenating your body and replenishing your energy.
Mental Rest
Our minds are constantly buzzing with thoughts, to-do lists, and endless stimulations. Mental rest involves finding moments of stillness amidst the noise. It’s about creating space for your mind to unwind and recharge. Engage in activities that bring a sense of peace, such as meditation, journaling, or immersing yourself in a good book. By giving your mind the rest it deserves, you’ll unlock hidden creativity, inspiration, and a renewed focus.
Emotional Rest
Oftentimes, we overlook the significance of our emotional well-being. Emotional rest is about honoring your feelings and creating space for them. Acknowledge and explore your emotions without judgment or resistance. Seek support from loved ones or professional help if needed. Embracing emotional rest allows for healing, personal growth, and a deeper understanding of yourself.
Social Rest
While human connection is beautiful and enriching, it can also be draining, especially for introverts. Social rest involves finding the balance between meaningful connections and alone time. Take a break from social engagements, set boundaries, and allow yourself space to recharge. Embrace moments of solitude, reflect on your own thoughts, and savor the peace that comes with being in your own company.
Creative Rest
In a world driven by productivity and achievement, it’s easy to forget the importance of tapping into our creative energies. Creative rest involves stepping away from the constant need to create and allowing your imagination to recharge. Engage in activities that inspire you, whether it’s taking long walks, practicing a creative outlet, or simply daydreaming. By giving yourself the gift of creative rest, you’ll unlock new perspectives, fresh ideas, and a sense of purpose.
Spiritual Rest
In our quest for success, we often neglect our spiritual well-being. Spiritual rest is about finding inner peace and reconnecting with your soul. Unplug from the noise of the world and immerse yourself in nature. Engage in practices such as meditation, prayer, or self-reflection. By nurturing your spiritual side, you’ll tap into a sense of purpose, find clarity, and discover your true essence.
