How Power Couples Set Their Goals
Unplug From Your Normal Routine
The more time you spend without distraction, the more you can talk about your dreams. This is so important to get away and unplug from your normal routine. For us, taking nightly walks together for an hour without our phones and traveling without our devices are standard practices.
Support Their Personal Goals
If they have goals, find ways in which you can support them. Maybe it’s not something you’re interested in, but there might be a different perspective that you can offer them. If you and your partner don’t have exactly similar interests, that doesn’t necessarily mean anything negative. You can still be a part of the goal-setting process and show up for them.
Recognize That Know One is Perfect
You can’t love who you think your partner should turn out to be. You have to love them where they are. None of us are perfect. It doesn’t mean you don’t help them to change. You have to find them where they are because that’s where they are. When you can come to that, you notice that people change faster because they don’t feel neglected, unheard, or unseen.
It’s amazing what you can do with a ten-minute conversation with intention and important space. Each week, have a check-in where you update the rules of your goals and discuss on both ends how each person sees things progressing. It’s an easy way to start opening up dialogue and communication together.
