We’ve been calling February the month of love, which makes it the perfect time to take an inventory of your relationships. Take this opportunity to reflect on your past and current relationships and see if you notice any codependent patterns.

The first thing you do is stop trying to fix everyone. A lot of times, it’s not your job. If you’ve been codependent and you’ve only been looking at your life in terms of what you need to do for somebody else, you’ve forgotten the awareness about yourself. It’s been too long since you’ve practiced self-care and asked yourself what you really need inside.
Our second tip is to start taking care of yourself. Once you stop fixing everyone else, you have time to invest in yourself and ask what you need right now. The big secret here is to be selfish. If you give and give to others, what ends up happening is that you fall short on yourself. And without you, the whole thing doesn’t work. Be selfish for a while and look at your own needs.
The last thing we want you to do is to start to question your purpose and who you are. If you have a history of codependent relationships, you most likely live your life for somebody else. It’s time for you to pause and decide who you are going to be. Ask yourself: What am I going to stand for? What matches who I am today instead of who I was in the past?
