Low self-esteem will put the brakes on your dreams.

1. Be Yourself/Be Authentic

So many people are unable to be their true selves because of the negative outside influences they’ve heard their whole life. From the bully in the school yard to the critical parent to the emotionally abusive ex-lover, we can be deeply affected by the judgments of others.

Have you ever tried to turn yourself into someone else so that another person will love you? This is a pattern that creates resentment and pain in the long run.

2. Be Your Own Cheerleader/Stop Negative Self-Talk

Your inner dialogue will dictate the rest of your life, so take a good look at the stories you’re telling yourself. 

This negative self-talk is even more destructive when you speak the words out loud.

Make a commitment to yourself now that you will never say something bad about yourself to someone else ever again.

3. Be Assertive/Set and Enforce Boundaries

It’s time to say goodbye to people-pleasing for good!

Set firm boundaries and stick to them, without feeling bad about it! Think about all of the boundaries that you have to stick to for other people – like laws and rules were expected to obey and “invisible” boundaries that society places on us.

It’s just as important to have these boundaries for yourself, and when you do, you are reinforcing your self-worth!

4. Invest in Yourself

Stop buying shoes and cars to make yourself feel fulfilled! If you want to find true inner fulfillment, invest in yourself with time, energy, and self-development.

As Chris says “The best money I’ve spent in my life, is the money I’ve spent on myself.”

Remember, at the end of our lives, the only thing we take with us is our experiences.

That’s why an investment of time and energy is one of the most powerful investments you can make.
