If you’ve been listening to The Elevated Life for a while, you know about our underlying philosophy for living a more intentional life: The 7 or Above rule.
Take a look at how you’re spending your time and stop doing things that are below a 7 on a scale of 1-10. This will get you out of the grind of being busy without actually accomplishing anything.
For example: desiring to become wealthy is awesome, but it’s not a strong goal because it’s not actionable! Start thinking about the steps you need to take in order to achieve wealth, like setting savings goals or focusing on specific areas in your business or career.
When you break your big dreams down into actionable steps every day, you’ll see so much more progress!
There are a lot of tasks associated with achieving our dreams, but we can’t approach them with the same mindset we use to do the laundry or take out the trash.
Instead of just checking things off your to-do list, take a moment of pause before you start to work on a task related to your dream and get yourself into the right mindset. Think about it like getting into a mental power stance!
When we take a look at our to-do list, it can feel good to start ticking off all of the easy things first because it gives us a sense of accomplishment. If you want to feel really accomplished, pick out the most important thing and do that one first!
We use our own version of the Pomodoro method to make sure that we’re getting the most out of every hour. We set a timer for 50 minutes of work and then take a 10 minute break. (The traditional Pomodoro method calls for 25 minutes of work and a 5 minute break.)
We love this method because it allows us to block out each hour to devote all of our focus to important tasks. It also gives us a mental break between tasks and gives us an opportunity to shift gears.
