Right now, empaths are tuning into all of the crazy energy going on in the world. It’s more important than ever to learn how to decipher: “Is this mine or someone else’s?”
Chris and I love working with empaths because we see them as the healers of the world. If you aren’t sure what an empath is, it’s someone who takes on the energy of others around them, whether it’s positive or negative. This is a gift, but it can also be a burden for those that don’t learn how to protect their energy.

1. Don’t Over-give
My healing work started when my mom had a massive stroke that she almost didn’t wake up from.
After months of speech therapy and recovery, I asked her “Why did you do this to yourself?” Her answer said it all. “Because everyone needed something from me.”
When you love and care about people, it’s easy to want to give them too much. This is why it’s so important that empaths make it a priority to come home to themselves and take care of their own needs.Setting boundaries is one of the best strategies for making sure that you don’t overgive.
2. Start with self-care daily
Empaths need to find ways to nurture themselves every day. In order to maintain your energy, you have to make self-care a priority.
It starts the minute you wake up. If you have kids, make sure to set your alarm a little bit early so that you have time for yourself before you tend to their needs.

3. Completely Disconnect
On a regular basis, it’s important to take the time to completely pull back and connect with your soul. That means scheduling time to unplug your phone, be unreachable to the other people in your life, and take time for yourself. I hosted a retreat in February, and was amazed by how much transformation can happen in just a few days when the rest of life isn’t pulling at you.
Empaths often wear many masks so that they can appear to be “okay” to others, when on the inside they’re tired, resentful, and depleted.
Taking off the mask and giving yourself a moment to pause is a restorative practice that will allow you to come back to your true self.
